Global Learning Medallion Reflection
A brief explanation of how completing this program impacted my undergraduate career.
Reflection
When I transferred to Florida International University, I did not expect to evolve as much as in the core aspects of a student leader or a global learner. My first semester was not an easy transition... The day right before my first day at FIU, I was involved in a car accident that left me wary of driving and self-conscious of my appearance (as I had a seat belt scar on my chest and had to wear an arm sling). I attend the first day with a pessimistic attitude expecting not to enjoy any lectures or meet any new people. Throughout the semester, I caught the attention from one of my professors for a "foundations" global learning course. He began talking about fulfilling the global learning course as it is a requirement, and encouraged, me to look into the "global learning medallion".
Through my progress in completing the global learning medallion, I was introduced to various global learning activities, encouraged to branch out and enroll in global courses I otherwise wouldn't have considered, and obtained a life changing environmental internship. This medallion has enhanced my communication skills, self-awareness, and strengthened my commitment to civic responsibility.
